Opportunity Maryland Advocates for Common-Sense Problem Solving in Annapolis

“There’s too much problem yelling; we need more problem solving.”

Annapolis, MD – A new organization is launching today to help raise awareness about the challenges coming down the road for Marylanders, and advocating for a better economic environment for individuals, businesses, entrepreneurs and innovators in our state.

“Leaders in Annapolis are making pie-in-the-sky promises to the people of Maryland, with no plan to pay for them. And while those promises necessitate more spending, our deficits are ballooning, unemployment is up, and the state is losing people. Fees are already being raised on hard-working Marylanders, and it’s only a matter of time until they raise our taxes too,” said Jessica Haire.

“There’s too much problem yelling in politics today. We need more problem solving. That’s why Opportunity Maryland is standing up to let people know about the challenges facing our state and advocate for a better economic climate that welcomes jobs, innovation and entrepreneurship,” Haire continued.

Opportunity Maryland is an independent non-profit advocacy organization that will promote policies encouraging growth and prosperity. Led by former Anne Arundel County Councilmember Jessica Haire, Opportunity Maryland will engage area leaders and everyday Marylanders to let policymakers know rather than simply raising taxes, we need to make our state economically competitive.

This fall, Opportunity Maryland will hold listening sessions around the state, inviting local leaders to discuss the challenges they face in raising their families, growing their businesses or developing their regions.
